Meet Wesley

Registered Physiotherapist, Hand Therapist, Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Practitioner, Manual Therapist.

It’s the little things that make all the difference.

Wesley Lai is a Registered Physiotherapist in Toronto, ON. With 7 years of clinical experience and a special focus in upper extremity rehabilitation, he is increasingly sought after by elite athletes and performers to help optimize functional performance, conditioning potential, and career longevity. He works with professional athletes, musicians, artists, and more.

Wesley collaborates with Sports Medicine Doctors, Hand Surgeons, Rheumatologists, Family doctors, and Orthopaedic Surgeons across the GTA.

When it comes to Physiotherapy, Wesley believes the secret to an efficient and successful outcome is to pay attention to the little things. Like most things in life, it’s often the little things that add up to a big thing, or a little thing that makes a big thing linger.

Why Work with Wesley?

  • 7 years of clinical experience.

Since graduating from the University of Toronto with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2016, Wesley continues to seek out new ways to refine his skills as a Physiotherapist.

  • Scholar at heart.

The more Wesley learns, the more he realizes he has much to learn. With over 15 years of combined undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate training, Wesley utilizes all of his schooling to give his clients the best physiotherapy experience possible.

  • Special focus in rehabilitating Hand, Wrist, Elbow, Shoulder injuries.

Wesley is a member of the Canadian Society for Hand Therapists (CSHT) and has extensive experience rehabilitating complex upper extremity injuries.

His love for hand therapy began in Ottawa, when he came upon the chance to collaborate with Ottawa’s top hand surgeons and specialists. Here, he discovered the art behind rehabilitating hand and upper extremity injuries, and when he moved to Toronto, he found a way to collaborate with sports medicine doctors, rheumatologists, hand surgeons and specialists in the City, so that he could continue to serve the local community and pursue this passion.

  • Experienced in treating complex neck, back, and low back injuries.

When Wesley worked in Ottawa’s CBI Health Kanata, he collaborated with an affiliate Sports Medicine Doctor of the Ottawa Senators to rehabilitate patients with complex spinal injuries.

From these experiences, he developed an unconventional approach to treating spinal problems. Where most physiotherapists focus on a structure at fault, Wesley considers the full picture, often doing a full body assessment to identify commonly missed, yet significant drivers of neck and back pain.

  • Compassionate, Honest, Empathetic, Patient.

In 2016, Wesley was awarded the University Health Network Patient Quality of Life Award by Toronto Rehab Institute, to recognize him for his attributes and abilities to improve quality of life for people living with a long-term disability.

Wesley currently provides physiotherapy through his mobile home care clinic, Physiogenetic Rehabilitation, and at a downtown Toronto clinic with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, Push Pounds Sports Medicine (Downtown)
